I am left unsure whether he would be cooler driving a GMC Caballero Amarillo than his current choice.
Maybe a Caballero Diablo or an Elky Royal Knight?

Are white lettering tires cool outside of cars newer than 1990?

I didn't even know the Royal Knight was a thing. I think the world will be a better place with that knowledge in my head.

I don't know, his pony tail was pretty serious and he was pretty nice when we asked if we could take pictures.

I knew the Amarillo was a thing, and I think I’d heard of the Diablo, but I don’t think I’d heard of the Royal Knight myself until I was looking up stuff on the Caballero...

Ernest Hemingway’s ghost is going to punch you in the face while you sleep.
Also, I spotted this at the same book store about a month ago.

I think it depends on the vehicle, my truck is a ‘97 and it had some when I got it. I don’t hat e them.
I think they work though because of the Torque Thrusts.

i liked the muscle truck. they just go and do real dumb stuff with the project cars sometimes...... like that time that they took the sawzall to the fenders to clear the super swampers, and then bomb around the dunes........ it was always fun to watch them run it at the dragstrip, even if it seemed like it ran slow numbers........
my truck is 3 or 4 trucks put together. the frame is a k5 blazer frame, with 3.73s , and is running 1976 np203 transfer case(full time, all the time 4wd) has a turbo 350 automatic, and an older 1970 010 350 small block chevy with a real mild cam. 1981 truck cab. a 73 gmc stepside bed(with the step cut out for fitment). headers with 3 inch exhaust, and stumpy 10" cherrybomb mufflers. it has 295 50 15 tires all the way around......... handles like it is on rails...... its solid transportation that is more fun than it should be .......

I have owned 3 c10's, one was a lowered with a ride tech kit and it was one of the best handling vehicles I have ever owned. A step side is pretty high on my bucket list.

i have a bad habit of looking for projects that i dont really need......
in the process, i was trying for the better part of about 2 years looking everywhere i could think of, and asking everyone that i knew, if THEY knew where i could get my hands on a truck. took me TWO YEARS of asking around, unsuccessfully for one of my project trucks. i asked one of the guys that i was certain i had already asked, and LO, and BEHOLD he said “yeah i got one, not sure what exactly i want to do with it. ask me about it again here in about a week,” i catch up with him again, and ask him WHAT he is wanting for it. and i can see him mulling it over “i want to get at least $500 for it”........ and it was right then that i bought, SIGHT UNSEEN, one of my bucket list trucks. now keep in mind it doesnt have a straight panel on it(even th e roof has a dent) , and the interior is GONE, nothing there, but........ it is a 77 shortbed, step side, 4x4, granny 4 speed manual transmission, 350 sbc v8 , chevy pick up......... poured some gas down the carb, and it even fired up, and went into gear and mo ved under its own power....
thought i would never be able to lay my hands on one, but it finally showed up where i least expected it.
one of the few pictures i have of it waiting on me to get a move on turning it into a runner.........

the white letters help to break up the massive black sidewalls of tires, and make the rubber part seem not as tall. kind of like white walls do for the real old tires.........

When I was in high school: a buddy of mine had an 80 flare side Chevy with 3 on the tree. It was a really cool truck!

I bought my first one in 2001 for $3300. It only had the 305 but was almost perfect, the bed had clearly been used aside from that though it was great. The second one I stumbled across in 2008 for $2500 aside from needing paint and the interior being a little rough it was in great shape.
The prices on these have gone up so much since then I think it is almost impossible to find something you could jump in and daily for less than $5K. You got an amazing deal for one that is complete for $500.

i am one of them guys that does his own stunts/ build my own bullets. i have had the EXTREME good fortune of getting to hang out with a bunch of angry old men that know a whole lot about building fast old junk, and have gotten to learn a lot from them. i can usually build an old truck for around 1500, if i dont go all out, and include wheels, tires, and NICE paint, or run away with my imagination on the engine . i usually round up 3 or 4 trucks that are in fairly rough shape(for not much money(maybe $300 tops each )) , and use the best parts to put together one straight clean body. sell off what is still usable, and scrap the rest, and im not out all that much money.(sometimes there are enough parts to put together a s e cond heap of a truck, and sell it as just a runner) it just takes so much time to get everything all round up in order to put one together though.....
and when you been putting together similar junk for a while, its HARD to buy one, and pay real world prices for what someone thinks that their truck is worth.....
and like you say the clean, nice ones are going for some downright proud money. and those straight bodies arent just falling out of the trees anymore..... i might need to start stocking the backyard with some spares.........
